The most common method pf weed control in upland crops is the use of a small sickle like device called Niri or khurpi.This is widely used Traditional device being used by the farmers over centuries in almost all countries of the world.Niri is very much effective against annual,biennial and simple perennials.Mulching and loosening of soil is also achieved.Niri is not suitable against irrigated muddy and wet soils.It is also time consuming to remove weed with niri.
